Product Information: Operators convert the Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Unitized Block into custom sizes and shapes for their unique applications. This tightly layered, durable, unitized abrasive block is available in fine and medium densities, and works well for aggressive deburring, blending and finishing on harder metals..

Aluminum Oxide Mineral Has High Cut-Rate, Hardness and Strength
Our Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Unitized Block is filled with aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. We chose aluminum oxide because it is popular among industrial professionals due to its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention all combine to make aluminum oxide mineral a good choice in grinding applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.

The Cut and Polish Unitized Block is available in two grades – fine (FIN) and medium (MED), so users may choose the right grade for their specific application. Typically, finer grades are used when operators desire a softer cut and finer finish. Conversely, a medium grade would be used when operators desire a more aggressive cut and coarser finish.

Discover the Scotch-Brite™ Advantage
Nonwoven technology makes our Scotch-Brite™ abrasives unique. We intersperse abrasive mineral on synthetic fibers using resin — creating an open web construction. Spaces between the fibers permit excess material to escape, so the mineral does not become worn down by debris. It keeps the mineral cutting sharper longer, enhancing cut performance and increasing abrasive service life. The spring-like nature of the fibers works well on contours and responds to subtleties on the surface. Its responsive design effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils and contaminants without ruining the base material, so you get a consistent and uniform finish — part after part.
