Product Overview
3M™ Thin Printable Repulpable Single Coated Splicing Tape 9969W has an ultra-thin caliper (2.2 mil) making it a very good option for covering overlap splices as the splice travels through the coater or nip rollers. 9969W also accepts inks and coatings and can be used in different applications, including butt splicing and covering overlap splices.
Recommended Applications
- Butt splicing
- Covering overlap splices
Repulpable Construction
Our 9969W has repulpable construction, meaning there is no need to remove splice from waste. The tape’s water dispersability eliminates the danger of contaminating the paper mill with non-repulpable material. This feature can help save labor costs and increase the value of waste paper. All components of the adhesive and backing meet or exceed TAPPI UM-213, meaning it meets the requirements of indirect food additive regulations as described under 21 CFR 176.170 (components of paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty food).
Strength and Performance
Our repulpable tapes have the shear strength to stand up under high web tension. That means less potential incidence of splice slippage; less chance of exposed adhesive; and less risk of web breakage caused by “blocking”. Our tapes match shear strength with excellent peel strength. Their adhesive power and heat resistance can help keep your webs moving smoothly while helping to reduce splice failures and costly re-splicing.
